“Fire that is closest kept, burns most of all.”

About

Throughout my childhood in the Philippines, I explored all mediums of art. We were a military family, and when we were transferred I found inspiration in new places. Travel continues to inspire my art. I love learning about traditional cultures from ancient to modern.

Now I live in Virginia where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. My passion is the art of Pyrography (burning with fire). Using a hot metal pen the way other artists use paint brushes, I free hand images and designs onto wood through burning, charring, singeing, and other techniques. Wood is beautiful, mysterious, and whimsical. The natural features of the wood I work with spark my imagination, and before long, creatures and faces, mythical and real, emerge. What brings me the most satisfaction is seeing an image I’ve created resonate with others.

If something you see here that inspires you, I hope you'll get in touch.
